In a central Florida neighborhood that had withered for decades, it once was hard to see a different future. Dilapidated homes had been razed; refuse and weeds covered neighborhood lots. In 2010, Rural Neighborhoods and its development partner Pinnacle Housing Group said, “We can change that.”

The Community: Winter Haven
Near the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Orlando, Winter Haven is a growing town of nearly 38,000 persons. Emerging new businesses marked by CSX Integrated Logistics Center and Legoland combine with Polk County’s long tradition of raising blueberries, cattle, citrus, horticulture and sod. Nearly 6,800 local families remain employed in farm work. Rural Neighborhoods’ Cypress Cove provides a place to call home to agricultural employees and those employed in new local industries.
