Bike Rodeo Teaches Bike Safety
Officers from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office recently held a Bike Rodeo at Eden Gardens. Over 40 children attended and learned ways to be safe while riding a bike. The officers focused on the importance of wearing a helmet and ways to watch for cars when riding near streets.
After the safety presentation, the children practiced their bike skills on an obstacle course while officers timed them. The Sheriff’s Office also provided helmets for those without and demonstrated how to wear them properly.
The event was part of a children’s safety activity planned by a group of residents from a previous Eden Park-Esperanza Place (EP2) Resident Leadership Academy. The event included not only the Bike Rodeo, but also games and lunch for the children.
