Board Chairman Lopez Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award
Rural Neighborhoods Chairperson Arturo Lopez, Executive Director of the Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organizations, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Farmworker Justice, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1981 that seeks to empower migrant and seasonal farmworkers to improve their living and working conditions. The June 13th reception held in Washington, DC honored Lopez for his nearly 50 years of civil rights advocacy in Illinois and Florida. He was named chair of Rural Neighborhood’s board in 2018 and served for many years as a director of the Housing Assistance Council.
