One Down, One to Go in the Keys!
Seahorse Cottages and The Avenues on Big Pine Key expect initial certificates of occupancy in September for 31 new single-family rental units serving households earning less than 80% AMI. The CDBG-Disaster Relief funded rental community is financed by Florida Housing Finance Corporation and Community Housing Capital. Rural Neighborhoods will move south from Mile Marker 35 to its rental project at Mile Marker 17 on Sugarloaf Key. The Landings at Sugarloaf Key received expanded Housing Credits from FHFC on September 8th. The 56-unit count is down from its planned 88 apartments due to a legal settlement with concerned neighbors. But the redesigned project enjoys strong support from elected officials who have long championed the project and now neighbors, too.
