Rural Neighborhoods Speaks Out Against Proposed County Regulations
Two recent Naples Daily News stories reported on Rural Neighborhoods’ growing advocacy work in the EP2 neighborhood. Proposed land use amendments that we believe weaken efforts to force mobile home park landlords to upgrade their properties were criticized. Though supporting one-for-one replacement of dilapidated trailers, RN President Steven Kirk urged the planning commission to not grant conforming use status to parks that make no other improvements. New Collier County impact fee pricing also faced Rural Neighborhoods’ criticism. New starter homes and affordable rental housing must pay up to $20,000 per unit in impact fees – large luxury homes of more than $1M and 3,500 square feet face fees only marginally more.
