Seahorse I & II Take Shape
25-ton two-bedroom, two-bath modular homes were lifted into the air in mid-January as 14 of 31 rental homes were placed on their podiums well above storm surge guidelines. Seahorse I and II are expected to welcome new residents at 80% AMI in April. The remainder of the homes – manufactured in Leesburg, FL – will soon be set in a second lift. Total project cost of $14.5 million is funded by Florida Housing Finance Corporation and Community Housing Capital, a national CDFI located in Atlanta, GA. Interestingly, 3 units targeted to disabled residents are equipped with exterior elevators designed to enable full accessibility for rental residents.
